One ancient city. One long journey. We people, the people living in 21st century, desperately embrace the world whilst voluntarily abandon ourselves; we throw ourselves into the colorful but insubstantial social network and reality shows, whilst we choose to be indifferent to the real world around. The vast cultural integration happening everywhere has weakened our identities with a side-effect: too much inundation of the dazzling surroundings for us has finally created extreme anxiety. The faster we hunt, the more we feel the inner desperation.
We are scared of being rejected and yet we rejected ourselves first. In return for ,And yes, we are accepted by the outer world, by denying our own identity. Like seeking temporary relief regardless of the disastrous consequence, this act only drifts us further. We are suffering from our own false decision. It is and old saying that life is a play. Since the game comes to a dead end, why not go back to the starting point and simply begin again? Here we are, going back to the ancient city. Two thousand years passing by, the city is still there. This time, we come back holding a vow with our costume, that we will never ignore the past and that we as orientalist will survive now and ever, just like this ancient city. We are her to show our respect to tradition because we realize how our lack of self-reflection and civilization belief can hurt us. It is not because there is no way back for us. On the contrary, this way we can find our way out of Pan’s Labyrinth. This journey is destined to be a lost one, in that we have gone too far; but this time we will face the rebirth in the lost end.
